The crossing of the Bloukrans River looms large in everyone's minds and day four is when it happens. Despite dire warnings and horrible stories, it was as easy as easy. After that we relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful fynbos on the ridge where you walk the final few kilometres to Andre Hut where we saw a real live swimming otter! This is Protea neriifolia.

The crossing of the Bloukrans River is always mentioned when people write about the Otter Trail. I know a couple of years ago after a huge storm the sand in the river mounth was washed away making it a very dangerous crossing, but from the pic it looks like there is sand again.
