Happy St Patrick's Day!

Happy St Patrick's Day. To celebrate here is a photo of a Connemara pony - one of Ireland's tough little grey ponies with huge characters - with its chestnut friend. These are rescued ponies at Pineland's Oude Molen Eco-village in the care of Kendre Allies, a reformed gangster who also runs a riding school here. This eco-village along the banks of the Black River in the very centre of the city, used to be a military barracks, and a lunatic asylum - and even further back in time - a spiritual place for the indigenous Khoi pastoralists.
Pop in to the Millstone Farm Stall and Cafe where everything is organically and mostly locally produced and sourced - and tastes really good too. You can see Lion's Head in the distance.
