Letting off steam
Take a fantastic scenic steam train ride from Cape Town Station to Simon's Town and back with Atlantic Rail. Their steam engine, The City of Cape Town, is the only operational steam engine in Cape Town. For steam enthusiasts, it is a 1947 Class 24 locomative, and the wooden carriages date from 1922 to 1938. Its amazing how much attention this little train attracts along the way - a most enjoyable and festive outing.

I didn't know that there was a steam train in Cape Town. Now that the Apple Express in PE and the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe on the Garden Route isn't running this one should be even more of a tourist attraction.
