Another endemic protea
Today started out sunny, but the weather is closing in. Time for a quick walk and then a good book under the duvet while the rain waters the garden? This is the Grey Tree Pincushion that grows on the slopes of Table Mountain above Camps Bay. It belongs to the protea family and is endemic to the Cape Peninsula - occurring nowhere else in the world!

A unique tree then. I like how you shot this with the water in the background.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh I haven't seen one of these in ages.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful species, Caroline. I've never seen this one. Like Steffe, I love your close-up with the water in the background. We're having much needed rain, soaking into the earth, Praise God. Have a great weekend. Jo
ReplyDeleteI love proteas, and this one looks different from any I have seen. Thanks for showing it here. Great composition, too!
ReplyDeleteI visited the Van Stadens Wildflower Reserve outside PE yesterday and also saw some of the most beautiful proteas. Will be posting some ot them at some stage in the near future.
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning, especially at full size. The detail you've captured is exquisite.
