African heather

Wednesdays are walking days and today was just glorious. We walked up Steenberg Plateau (part of Table Mountain) to the top where all the heaths (many, many different species of Erica) are flowering. For more ABC Wednesday posts, click here.

  1. Hi, I notice you have signed up for ABC Wednesday yet I do not see any reference to the meme - if this is A for African Heather please link back to the main ABC Blog as is set out in the rules and guidelines.
    Thank you

  2. I love seeing the hills colourful with the heather - though I usually don't time it right when I visit Scotland!

  4. I wonder if African Heather is any different from English Heather. I don't live in England any more but I do know that the moors are just getting ready to spread their beautiful color in Yorkshire.

  5. ChrisJ - African heather (of which there are several hundred species!) is mostly from the genus Erica and Scottish heather is Calunna - but both belong in the family Ericaceae.
