Greenmarket colours

Namaqua House is a colourful, Art Deco building on Greenmarket Square which is the oldest public square in South Africa dating back to the 1600s when slaves were also traded there. There is still a thriving market here but it is mainly rather generic East and Central African tourist shops and seems to have lost a little of its former variety.

  1. Hi Caro, great shot. It reminds me of when I used to work in town. I actually have a very similar shot that I took of the same buildings a few years ago (it has hardly changed).

You can check it out here

  2. I am always amazed at how busy it is in and around Greenmarket Square.
