Cape Town's ghost town
High up on the mountain, at the top of Red Hill pass from Simon's Town, one reaches the hauntingly sad ghost town of Brooklands. I can't find out very much about it, other than it was abandoned when the inhabitants were forcibly removed during Apartheid. Today, a rainy, misty day, was a good day to visit it. There is a very nice trail that starts here and goes to the Kleinplaas Dam. But SANParks should have an information board about the place as it is really astonishingly spooky.

What a sad and lonely place.

Reminds me of an openair museum we saw in Scotland, from the Highland Clearance. With an information filled sign. Can feel the sadness in the air.
ReplyDeleteIt does come across as spooky. Oh what great photo opportunities there are when the fog hangs like this.
