Ocean View

On the left of this photo you can just make out the township of Ocean View, which although it is situated in what must be one of the most spectacular places on the planet, was laid out in the bad old days of Apartheid when entire communities were uprooted and forcibly removed to be "dumped" in an area that were deemed to be for "non-whites only". This township is on the fringes of the more upmarket settlements of Kommetjie and Fish Hoek.

  1. There must be a lot of unemployment in this area as its a bit far out of town and I can't imagine that there is much work in Kommetjie and the surrounds. I also imagine that it is on land that would fetch millions if it was lying open and was due for development.
