Today - a chilly but sunny day - I went to renew my SANParks Wildcard at the South African National Parks office in Steenberg as the Internet option doesn't work. (Think they need some new IT peeps there!) With the Steenberg Ridge of Table Mountain behind them (meaning Stone Mountain in Afrikaans) it is quite an impressive office. A rather overworked Mrs Le Grange was doing battle in there without a credit card facility and with rather inept staff and a queue of very disgruntled Wildcard renewers - but eventually I managed to get a piece of paper with a number promising me they would post the new card soon. Phew. It is a very useful card to have as you can get into all the national parks for free.
