Urban sprawl

From the sand dunes on the shores of False Bay, looking back to Table Mountain - just visible in the distance - and stretching as far as the eye can see, is Cape Town's largest 'township', Khayelitsha (Xhosa for 'new home').

  1. Khayelitsha is huge. You don't always realise how big it is when you just wizz by on the N2.

  3. Such a mixture of feelings about Khayelitsha - poverty and hospitality, despair and hope. I spent two weeks living with a host family there, and it was beautiful and difficult at the same time.
