Tokai Park is an exciting new area where SANParks, the City of Cape Town and SANBI (Kirstenbosch) are working together to restore the natural vegetation in recently felled pine plantations. An imaginative and creative
plan to integrate urban and natural features has been worked out and is being implemented with tracts of critically endangered Cape Flats Sand Fynbos being restored without excluding the needs of people living on the "urban edge". The result: an area to walk, ride, cycle, exercise, play and just soak up some of the wonderful
biodiversity of Cape Town.
That will be a great place for all.

good to see some progress. I remember bitter complaints about destroying the shade for dog walkers.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an enjoyable ride in the park
ReplyDeleteIts always great to see natural areas being restored and protected. Wish we could have more of that here too
